The Progressive Governors Forum has dismissed widespread reports alleging that Hope Uzodinma was removed as chairman of the forum, describing the claims as false, misleading, and without any basis.
In a statement issued by the Director-General of the forum, the PGF said there was no meeting held on Thursday night where such a decision was discussed or taken, contrary to reports circulating across sections of the media and social platforms.
The clarification comes amid intense political speculation within the ruling All Progressives Congress following reports that some governors had allegedly moved against Uzodinma shortly after he represented APC governors at the submission of President Bola Tinubu’s presidential nomination and expression of interest forms in Abuja.
Refuting the reports, the forum insisted that Governor Uzodinma remains its duly recognized chairman and that the body remains united and focused on its mandate.
“The report is entirely false, baseless and without any iota of truth,” the statement said.
The PGF further stressed that no extraordinary meeting took place and urged party faithful, political stakeholders, and members of the public to ignore the speculation.
“The Forum remains united, focused and committed to its responsibilities. Members of the public, faithful party men, and the media are therefore advised to disregard the report in its entirety,” the statement added.
The denial comes as political activities within the APC continue to intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, with growing attention on alignments, influence blocs, and internal power dynamics within the ruling party.
