Favour Igiebor, the Nigerian woman who tore her husband’s passport at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, MMIA, Lagos, has been arrested.
The woman had torn her husband’s international passport on arriving from Europe in a viral video on social media.
In a later video, she had adduced extended family feud as reason for her action.
The Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, in a statement on Monday had said it was investigating the incident, promising to prosecute the woman if found culpable.
However, in a new development on Thursday, the woman was arrested at Lagos and transported to Abuja for interrogation.
The Italy-based woman was seen in In a now trending video being escorted by immigration officers to board a vehicle upon her arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
The arrest, which is seen as a welcome development was despite her husband’s recent claim that the incident was a skit.
However, many are of the view that something drastic need to be done to put the so-called skit makers in check. They argue that most of the time as in this instance, the skits are bereft of messages or lessons but full of mischief.
