Residents of Edjeba community in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State have been thrown into shock, following the death of a young woman allegedly linked to a suspected Internet fraudster.
The incident reportedly occurred at a residential apartment on Ajidi Street in Edjeba, a densely populated area of Warri known for its vibrant commercial and residential activities.
According to sources within the community, neighbours were alerted after a distressing commotion was heard from the suspect’s apartment during the early hours of the day. Concerned by the unusual noise, the landlord reportedly raised an alarm and contacted security authorities.
Police officers who responded to the emergency call reportedly discovered the beheaded body of the woman inside the apartment and immediately took the suspect into custody for questioning.
The deceased’s remains have since been evacuated and deposited in a morgue, as investigators work to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Residents who spoke on the development expressed disbelief, describing the couple as familiar faces within the neighbourhood.
According to community members, the woman had been seen the previous day carrying out routine activities, including shopping for household items. Many said they often saw the pair together around the community.
The tragic development has reignited concerns about rising cases of violent crimes and the need for greater vigilance among residents, particularly regarding domestic and relationship-related disputes.
Confirming the incident, the Delta State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, said the suspect has been arrested and that investigations are ongoing.
Authorities have urged members of the public to remain calm and allow law enforcement agencies to carry out a thorough investigation to determine the facts surrounding the case.
