Godswill Akpabio, President of the Nigerian Senate has directed his lawyers to withdraw all pending lawsuits against Senator Natasha and other individuals.
Akpabio’s decision was influenced by a sermon delivered by the priest during a New Year service at Sacred Heart Parish, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

He disclosed that he had instituted about nine court cases against individuals over allegations of defamation and slander.
However, the priest’s sermon made him to change his mind, causing him to forgive those involved, and decision to terminate all legal proceedings.
“I had almost nine cases in court against some individuals who defamed me, who lied against me and slandered my name. But as I listened to the priest, I suddenly realised he was speaking to me,” the Senate President said.
“Therefore, I hereby direct my solicitors to withdraw all lawsuits against them.”
Among the suits Akpabio ordered withdrawn was his ₦200 billion defamation suit against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
Akpabio had dragged the Kogi-Central senator to the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory asking to be awarded the staggering sum over alleged unprecedented damages with regard to what he described as false, malicious and injurious allegations of sexual harassment she levelled against him.
He had contended that the Senator’s claims subjected him to “public hatred, contempt and ridicule,” portraying him as a “sexual predator” and a leader who abused his office, adding that millions of Nigerians consumed the interviews and online content, which caused him emotional distress and inflicted grave damage on his political and social standing.
