Julius Abure has lost his seat as the the National Chairman of the Labour Party, LP.
This follows the decision of the Supreme Court, which nullified the judgment of the Court of Appeal in Abuja, recognising him in that capacity.
A five-member panel of the apex court in a unanimous judgment on Friday held that the Court of Appeal lacked the jurisdiction to pronounce Abure National Chairman of the LP, having earlier found that the substance of the case was about the party’s leadership.
It held that the leadership issue was an internal affair of a party and that courts lacked jurisdiction to meddle in it.
The apex court upheld the appeal filed by Senator Ester Nenadi Usman and one other on behalf of the Labour Party.
Consequently, it dismissed the cross-appeal filed by the Abure faction of the LP for lacking in merit.
