As a bewildered nation process the shocking death of David Shikfu Paraddang, former Comptroller General of Immigration Service, a group, Movement for the Emancipation of Nigeria ( MEN) has expressed outrage and raised suspicion over the conflicting accounts surrounding his tragic demise, and called for justice for the deceased former Immigration officer and his distraught family.

The group is worried that what should have passed as straightforward report of the death of a an accomplished Statesman
“has instead been muddied by contradictions, deliberate misinformation, and a desperate attempt to control public perception”.

Picking holes in the narrative that trailed his unfortunate death, MEN wondered who threw the spanners into the works in the effort to understand what exactly happened to deceased immigration chief, all geared to “manipulate the truth smear his legacy and perhaps conceal a more sinister reality”.

‘”The first story circulated by major media outlets claimed that Mr. Paradang was kidnapped and murdered. This version was widely spread before any official confirmation from security agencies, raising fundamental questions:

“Who first peddled this falsehood?
Why was there such urgency in shaping a narrative before facts were established?
Was this an attempt to preempt or overshadow the real circumstances of his death?

“Barely hours later, the FCT Police Command issued a counter-statement with a completely different account, detailing that Mr. Paradang checked into a hotel alone, entertained a female guest, and was later found dead in his room by a military officer. While this version dismisses the kidnap narrative, it introduces new and disturbing questions:

“According to the police report, a military officer “traced” Mr. Paradang to the hotel and insisted on checking on him at 4:00 AM. This raises serious red flags:

“How did this officer know Mr. Paradang had checked into that particular hotel?
Why was he so certain that something was wrong—was he expecting to find a lifeless body?
Who tipped him off, and what information was he acting on?

“In any normal situation, if a person is unreachable, family and friends would call repeatedly, send messages, or visit his home. What made this officer bypass all that and go straight to a hotel he supposedly did not know about before? His actions suggest prior knowledge—but from whom?

“The police report also confirms that a woman was with Mr. Paradang until 4:00 PM before leaving. This raises further concerns:

“Who is this woman, and what was her relationship with the deceased?
What conversations did they have? Did she notice anything unusual?
Was she simply a visitor, or was she planted as part of a larger scheme?
Her sudden disappearance is highly suspicious, and the fact that efforts are only “ongoing” to track her down suggests that those who should have secured her for questioning might have deliberately let her go. Was this woman a bait in a setup?

The group also alleged that there is a deliberate plot to tarnish the image of the deceased highly extolled by his colleague officers as a prefect gentleman. According to the group

“The false kidnapping story and the hotel narrative appear too neatly crafted—one to cause public outrage, and the other to tarnish his reputation.
“Why was a distinguished officer of Mr. Paradang’s caliber suddenly linked to a fabricated kidnap claim?
“Why was his last known activity carefully framed around a hotel and a female visitor?
“Who benefits from reducing a statesman’s death to a salacious scandal rather than investigating what really happened?
“This looks like a calculated effort to discredit him in death, to distract from the real cause of his passing, and to erase his contributions by drowning him in controversy”.

Consequently MEN has demanded a full scale independent investigation vowing never to let the matter be swept under the carpet. It demands full disclosure on the identity of the alleged military officer and his sources of information, including immediate release of the hotel’s CCTV camera footage

Movement for the Emancipation of Nigeria (MEN) will not allow this matter to be swept under the carpet. We demand a full-scale, independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mr. Paradang’s death” the group vowed in a statement.
