Several people on Saturday reportedly died in a petrol tanker explosion Enugu.
The tragedy, which consumed a yet to be ascertained number of people occurred at Ugwu Onyeama, Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, a few kilometres from metropolis.
Sources, however, claim ed l that over 10 persons had died in the inferno.
It was gathered that the explosion took place at about 11:30 am when the petrol-laden tanker exploded on the very busy road, leaving devastating effect on its trail, including the killing of many and destruction of nearby vehicles.
The fire was also reportedly so intense it hindered rescue operations.
The people caught up in the flames, who were believed to be occupants of the affected vehicles, were said to have been burnt beyond recognition.
