Breaking: Supreme Court authenticates Ezeokenwa as APGA chair,  slams N20m fine on Edozie Njoku 

The protracted leadership tussle rocking the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, was on Wednesday finally laid to rest by the Supreme Court.

The apex court in it’s ruling upheld Sylvester (Sly) Ezeokenwa as the National Chairman of the party and imposed a ₦20 million fine on Edozie Njoku, one of the claimants to the chairmanship of the party.

The court described Njoku’s suit filed at the FCT High Court in Bwari as frivolous.

Njoku had earlier been restrained by the Federal High Court in Abuja from presenting himself as the party’s chairman.

Justice James Omotosho had held that there was no valid court order from any court that recognised Njoku as the party’s chairman.

Njoku’s faction had been uploaded on the  Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, website, replacing Ezeokenwa and his executive officers.

However, APGA and Ezeokenwa challenged the INEC decision in court and argued that Njoku’s claim had no legal basis.

The Supreme Court in its ruling,

recognised Ezeokenwa and his team as the authentic national executive officers of APGA.

The apex court and also directed INEC to recognise and restore their names accordingly.
