Attorney Charles Chibuike Onyirimba has lauded Professor Nnamdi Obiaraeri, a distinguished legal scholar and Professor of Law at Imo State University, on his elevation to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), describing the honour as a well-earned recognition of years of dedication, scholarship, and service to the legal profession.
He said the conferment of the prestigious title, coming 39 years after Professor Obiaraeri was called to the Nigerian Bar, reflects a career marked by discipline, consistency, and excellence. According to Onyirimba, the new rank places the professor firmly among the country’s most respected legal minds and underscores the value of perseverance in professional life.
The legal practitioner and philanthropist praised Professor Obiaraeri as one of the finest intellectual figures from Okigwe Zone, noting that his work in legal scholarship, advocacy, and mentorship has continued to enrich both Imo State and Nigeria at large, adding that the professor’s achievements have brought honour not only to his immediate community but also to the wider academic and legal circles.
Onyirimba said the elevation should be seen as a source of pride for the people of Okigwe Zone and stressed that it represents more than an individual accomplishment but a collective celebration for a region that continues to produce men and women of distinction.
He expressed optimism that the SAN rank would further strengthen Professor Obiaraeri’s influence in the legal field and inspire younger lawyers and scholars to remain committed to hard work, patience, and excellence.
The senatorial hopeful also called on the newly elevated Senior Advocate to use his experience, stature, and network to support the advancement of Okigwe Zone and contribute to the welfare of its people.
According to Onyirimba, prominent sons and daughters of the zone must see their success as a responsibility to build stronger institutions, mentor the next generation, and contribute meaningfully to the social, educational, and economic growth of the region.
While celebrating the milestone, Onyirimba prayed to God to grant Professor Obiaraeri good health, greater wisdom, renewed strength, and many more years of fruitful service to the legal profession, the academic community, and humanity.
He further noted that the professor’s elevation stands as a powerful reminder that resilience, integrity, and commitment remain the surest paths to lasting honour, expressing confidence that the achievement will continue to motivate aspiring lawyers and scholars across the country.
