President Bola Tinubu on Monday received the victorious female national team, the Super Falcons at a special reception held in their honour at the State House in Abuja.
The president also conferred the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger, OON, on all 24 players of WAFCON team, along with a cash reward of $100,000 and a three-bedroom apartment for each player.
Members of the technical crew were also splashed with $50,000 each in appreciation of their feat at the WAFCON 2024 held in Morocco.
The team was led to the reception by its captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, and head coach Justin Madugu.
They arrived at the Presidential Villa at 4:35 p.m. to a rousing welcome from President Tinubu and other dignitaries.
Recall that the Super Falcons came from two goals deficit to beat hosts Morocco to the coveted trophy.
