According to a statement released by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Anderson now faces three felony counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor. The investigation began after the student came forward, revealing the inappropriate relationship, which reportedly started with explicit text messages and escalated into multiple instances of sexual contact over the course of several months.
Authorities say the most recent encounter occurred on the morning of May 16, 2025 just hours before Anderson’s arrest. The alleged sexual activity took place inside Anderson’s classroom, prior to the start of the school day. Detectives believe the incident was not an isolated event, but part of a pattern of repeated misconduct that violated both the law and the ethical standards expected of educators.
Anderson was taken into custody later that day by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office and booked into the county jail. She was released on May 17 after a judge set her total bond at $45,000—$15,000 for each count she faces, according to People magazine.
Sheriff Chad Chronister condemned the alleged actions in a strongly worded statement. “This teacher betrayed the trust of a student, a school, and an entire community,” Chronister said. “What should have been a safe, supportive environment for learning was exploited for abuse. Her actions are criminal, calculated, and deeply disturbing.”
The Hillsborough County School District has not yet commented on Anderson’s employment status or whether additional disciplinary action will be taken. The case remains under investigation as authorities seek to determine if there were any other victims or warning signs that were overlooked.
