President Bola Tinubu has given the nod to the establishment of a national forest guards.

This bold initiative is seen as a welcome strategy aimed at reclaiming Nigeria’s forests from terrorists, bandits, and criminal gangs.

Sunday Dare, a presidential spokesperson,  announced on Wednesday the immediate commencement of recruitment and deployment of the forest guards across all of Nigeria’s 1,129 forests.

Dare further explained that the forest guards would be well-trained, armed, and mandated to flush out criminal elements, who have resorted to using the forests as hideouts from where they perpetrate violent attacks on the populace.

“This is a joint security effort between the federal and state governments. The Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) and the Ministry of Environment have been directed to take charge and ensure full implementation,” the statement read.

The new security outfit will not only create jobs for several Nigerian youths but also boost national security.

The initiative dds to President Tinubu’s resolve and vow to secure every inch of Nigeria’s territory from criminal marauders.
