Two brothers, Lucky and Uzoma Amadi, have been arrested by the Imo State Police Command for allegedly murdering their elder brother, Orindu Amadi, in Mbaitoli Local Government Area.

The incident reportedly took place in Umuokpi kindred, Umuchimanyiri village, Obazu Mbieri.

For months, the brothers had claimed that Orindu had traveled, a story that eventually aroused suspicion when he could no longer be reached.

The situation escalated when community youths confronted the brothers, demanding answers. Under mounting pressure, Lucky and Uzoma allegedly confessed to the killing, blaming Orindu for their father’s death a decade ago.

The suspects reportedly led the youths to a shallow grave within the family compound, where Orindu’s skeletal remains were exhumed. Eyewitnesses said the enraged villagers forced the brothers to carry the remains before police officers from the Mbieri Division intervened, rescuing them from a potential mob attack.

One of the suspects, a tricycle operator, openly accused Orindu of causing their father’s death years earlier. Residents also alleged that the brothers deliberately misled the community by insisting Orindu had traveled to conceal the crime.

The revelation has drawn large crowds to the family compound while Lucky and Uzoma remain in police custody.
