Mr Berger Alfred Emberga has emerged as the Speaker of Benue House of Assembly at an emergency sitting on Sunday.
Emberga’s election followed the resignation of Mr Hyacinth Dajoh as speaker.
Dajoh’s resignation letter was posted on his Facebook wall on Sunday.
The lawmaker indicated that his resignation as the speaker of the 10th assembly took effect from August 24.
“This is done in faith and in the best interest of the state,” he said.
Dajoh expressed appreciation to his colleagues for the opportunity given to him to serve and to be the first among equals.
He pledged to remain committed to his duties as a legislator and representative of Gboko West State Constituency. (NAN)
