All the abducted 13 passengers of Benue Links we’re on Sunday successfully rescued unhurt.
The passengers had been abducted at Eke in Okpokwu local government area of Benue State but were rescued, following a collaboration between the police and local vigilance groups.
Adah Inalegwu, Chairman of Okpokwu LGA, who confirmed the development in a statement on Sunday, explained that two of the victims were first rescued on Saturday, as security forces and vigilance groups intensified combing the surrounding forest.
The LG boss added that support from youths in neighbouring Kogi State increased the pressure mounted on the kidnappers, forcing them to the release of the remaining 11 victims about 4:00 pm on Sunday at Oando village.
He added that logistics support from Governor Hyacinth Alia and improved security surveillance, including tracking technology aided the successful rescue operation.
Inalegwu further disclosed that the rescued victims are currently undergoing profiling and would be reunited with their families later.
