Various structures in Okigwe Zone of Imo State have come together in search of a suitable voice for the beleaguered zone in the National Assembly.
The concerned indigenes of the zone, in a recent meeting, concluded that Okigwe, also known as Imo North Senatorial District, had been shortchanged by the kind of representatives it has, especially in the Senate, and resolved to ensure that the zone gets a better representative than it has currently.
Among the various groups are: The Transformation Patriots; The Transformation Matrons and The Transformation Youth Vanguard.
One common attribute of the groups is their focus on the transformation of Okigwe Zone and their ability to speak truth to power.
The Transformation Patriots comprises respectable men in Okigwe Zone, who are the leaders of their various communities and want to see the right things being done in the zone. Their function is primarily to engage the community towards a better Okigwe Zone.

Similarly, The Transformation Matrons is composed of women of influence in the Zone. They are the women that control other women and children. Their voice is strong and powerful, and is capable of changing the course of any elections through active mobilisation and collaboration.
On the other hand, The Transformation Youth Vanguard cuts across the young men and women of Okigwe Zone. They are not only great mobilisers and the engine room of the campaign, they are also the ones to protect the votes.
There is also The Transformation Eaglets, who are the young ladies of the movement. They are the soul of the change.
Speaking after their recent brainstorming meeting, Coordinators of the groups, including Hon. Mrs Favour Nwelue, Chief Christian Amadi and Princess Ulumma Hulda Mbakwe, who spoke on behalf of others, declared their resolve to rally round Attorney Charles Onyirimba, who is running for the Red Chambers in the next dispensation.
Onyirimba is a well-known son of the zone, an accomplished attorney and a philanthropist of no mean status.
The groups believe that those currently representing the zone in the National Assembly may have done their best, which they described as inadequate, hence the need for Onyirimba, who possesses what it takes to restore hope for the people of Okigwe.
“Attorney Charles Onyirimba is eminently qualified to represent Okigwe in the Red Chamber. He knows his onion, and is professionally suited for the office. With him in the Senate, Okigwe would be sure of someone who has deep understanding of the law because of his extensive training in interpreting, drafting, and applying laws; skills that are essential for creating effective, clear legislation,” the groups said.
“Moreover, as a lawyer, Onyirimba is a skilled communicator and negotiator, which are critical for building consensus, defending constituents’ interests, and holding others accountable in government.
“In the course of his career, he has often dealt with multifaceted legal and regulatory issues, giving them the analytical skills needed to tackle complicated challenges in areas like healthcare, criminal justice, or economic reform.”
Furthermore, the coordinators noted: “Additionally, Onyirimba cares about equity and justice, essential values that align with not only protecting civil rights and promoting fair public policy but also ensuring that Okigwe Zone would no longer be neglected.
“For Okigwe, a new dawn beckons; it is our hope that we will not let it slip off our hands.”
