According to DSP Maureen Chinaka, the spokesperson of the state police command, the matter was reported at Central Police Station, Umuahia, by a family member.
The family member reported that on the fateful day, he had seen his mentally unstable cousin, dragging the lifeless body of Chinomso Nwabali James, which made him to raise an alarm, forcing Ibekwe to abandon the corpse and flee.
Chinaka further said police operatives visited the scene of the incident, where they recovered the woman’s body, which was taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, and confirmed dead by a doctor.
“While searching for the suspect and the missing twins at 2 am, the dismembered bodies of the children were found in different shallow graves within the community,” the police spokesperson revealed.
Meanwhile, the remains of the deceased trio have been deposited at the mortuary in the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, where an autopsy will be conducted.
