A commercial motorcyclist popularly known as Okada has given reasons she raped his female passenger inside his wife’s shop.
The Okada rider, identified as Kazeem raped the victim at about at about 10:15 p.m on October 17.
He claimed when he was being paraded that by the police in Ibadan the lady behaved as if she needed him for the night.
According to Kazeem, the victim had asked him to help her find a place to spend the night after arriving late in Ibadan from Lagos and seemingly stranded.
SP Adewale Osifeso, the Oyo State Police spokesman, said the suspect picked up the lady in the Olorunsogo area.
She was to be taken to her destination in the Adeshina area but Kazeem diverted to another place where he allegedly had carnal knowledge of her without her consent.
“On their way, the suspect diverted to another route which the victim was not familiar with and when she wanted to know where he was taking her to, he told her that he wanted to pick up something from his wife’s shop,” Osifeso said.
“The suspect ended up taking her to the Ogbere area where his wife’s shop was located. She was forced inside where he had carnal knowledge of her without her consent.”
According to Osifeso, Kazeem did not deny the allegation but justified his action, claiming that it was consensual.
He defended himself, saying he was if the impression that the lady needed him to sleep with her.
“That night, I was on the expressway, waiting to pick passengers when the lady approached me and said that she just arrived Ibadan from Lagos, but didn’t know the place she was going. I asked her for the area and she told me. I asked her to come along,” he said.
“As she sat on the bike, she told me that she was hungry. I gave her money to go and buy food. Thereafter, she told me to help her get a place where she could stay overnight because it was already late and she might not be able to recognize the place she was going to easily.
“From there, I took her to my wife’s shop in the Olorunsogo area and slept with her. When my wife came after I was arrested, she could not say anything. She was just crying.”
The police disclosed that medical report confirmed that the victim was actually raped, as had bruises around her genitals. Her underwear, a multi-color boxer, and a pair of trousers were also recovered, the police said.
