The Board of Trustees, BoT, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has met with Ezenwo Nyesom Wike,  the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.

The meeting between the minister and the Senator Adolphus Wabara-led board held behind closed doors on Tuesday.

However, newsmen were not allowed into the meeting but  speculations were rife about how to resolve the lingering crisis in the party, especially in Rivers State, was the main topic.

The BoT had already met with Governor Siminalayi Fubara of  Rivers State and had in August written to Wike, requesting for a meeting.

The outcome of the meeting was not immediately known.

Recall that Wike, the immediate past governor of Rivers State, and Fubara have been engaged in a protracted tussle over who controls the structure of the party in the state.

The minister had vowed that he would not relinquish the structure of the party to the current governor against what obtains in other states where the governors are the leaders of the party in the states.

The crisis has torn the party in the middle and has affected the State House of Assembly, which is not splintered with one group for it against Wike and Fubara, respectively.

The fight came to the fire in December last year when the state Assembly plotted unsuccessfully to impeach the governor, leading to the defection of 27 lawmakers from the PDP to the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state.

However, in realising their mistake, the lawmakers whose seats had been declared vacant curioslyclaimed that they were still members of the PDP, a matter that is still pending in the courts.

Only recently, the Wike-controlled state Congress was ratified by the PDP National Working Committee, NWC, against the decision of the party’s governors.

The governor’s of the party had insisted that Fubara, being the governor of the state is the leader of the party there, heading to a threat by Wike to ‘put fire’ in their respective states.

Surprisingly, members of the PDP NWC on Tuesday paid an unscheduled visit to the Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, Governor Bala Mohammed, in Bauchi, pledging to do whatever the governors want.
