A visually impaired man was on Sunday allegedly killed by an Islamic cleric, who is also his grandson, for money ritual purposes in the Apete area of Ibadan, Oyo State.
The suspect, simply identified as Alfa Ahmed, also reportedly killed his uncle for the same reason, leaving residents horrified by the twin murder.
“The suspect, popularly called Alfa Ahmed in the area, took advantage of his grandfather’s condition because the man was visually impaired, while his uncle too was not feeling fine when the incident occurred,” a source disclosed.
The Alfa allegedly intended to harvest the body parts of the victims for money rituals.
According to another source: “The victims reside in the same place with the suspect at the back of a popular market in Apete when the incident happened at about 6.pm to 6.30pm yesterday (Sunday). And people alerted the police about the unfortunate incident because the whole place was tense.”
Adewale Osifeso, the Oyo State Police spokesman, confirmed the incident, adding that investigations were ongoing.
“Investigation has commenced into the matter. Updates will be provided accordingly,” Osifeso said.
