The police in Edo State have arrested a 19-year-old native doctor for allegedly shooting one Alex Ezekiel to death.
The suspect, identified as Timothy Dauda reportedly killed the victim while testing a bulletproof charm he prepared for him in the Onumu community, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of the state.
Moses Joel Yamu, the spokesman for the Edo State Police Command, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Benin, the state capital, adding that operatives of the Igarra Division have arrested the suspect.
Yamu said the suspect was a self-acclaimed native doctor, who specialised in preparing charms against guns and cutlasses.
However, Yamu noted, the late Ezekiel went to the “native doctor” to get the charms prepared for him but after preparing the charms, the suspect tried to test the efficacy of the charms by shooting his client with a gun.
“Unfortunately, the deceased sustained fatal injuries, was rushed to Ifejola Hospital, Igarra where he was certified dead by a medical doctor,” the statement said.
Yamu added that the suspect would be charged to court at the end of investigation.
