Sunday\u2019s service at Acts of Restoration and Compassion Church, ARC, Lagos, unfolded as a weighty encounter with truth as the church gathered under the teaching of Rev Paul Chikwe, anchored on 2 Samuel 7:5\u201317. It was a continuation of the theme, \u201cConsolidate Evidence and Divine Establishment,\u201d which focused on Divine Establishment.<\/p>\n
It drove home a central conviction: only God establishes, and He does so by first dealing with the heart.<\/p>\n
From the outset, the message pierced through outward religion into inward reality: \u201cThe state of your heart towards God and humanity when you have nothing will be revealed the moment you become something.\u201d Promotion, the pastor emphasised, is not a transformation tool; it is a revelation mirror.<\/p>\n
Drawing from the life of Joseph, the teaching illustrated how the fear of God, cultivated in obscurity, sustains integrity in prominence.<\/p>\n
In the house of Potiphar, Joseph rose above others not by ambition but by trustworthiness. He managed his master\u2019s estate with diligence, guided not by supervision but by the consciousness that God sees all. When temptation came through Potiphar\u2019s wife, Joseph refused, not out of fear of man, but reverence for God. His private convictions defined his public conduct.<\/p>\n
The congregation was confronted with a sobering truth: what you do with power, money, and opportunity reveals what was already in your heart before they came. Many, the pastor warned, pursue success for the wrong reasons, to impress, to retaliate, or to dominate. Such pursuits, he noted, produce noise but not legacy.<\/p>\n
Turning to David, the message highlighted a man whose heart remained tender even in the face of injustice. Despite repeated chances to eliminate Saul, David restrained himself, choosing honour over revenge. Even cutting a piece of Saul\u2019s garment troubled his conscience. His fear of God overruled his access to power.<\/p>\n
Rev. Chikwem cautioned against a generation driven by ego and comparison; people who desire elevation merely to \u201cshow others.\u201d He described such individuals as \u201cvillage champions,\u201d emphasising that divine blessing is not for self-display but for kingdom purpose. While miracles may be common, he stressed, it is salvation and a transformed heart that truly distinguish a life.<\/p>\n

A defining moment in the message was the emphasis on legacy. From God\u2019s covenant with David, the pastor declared: \u201cSuccess without a successor is vain.\u201d He lamented a troubling pattern where leaders fail to raise others, weakening continuity and impact. The call was clear: build people, not just platforms.<\/p>\n
According to him, in today\u2019s Christendom, too many ministers are failing to raise those who will carry the mantle forward. The giants are fading, and in their place, we often see a troubling lightness, form without fire, noise without depth. The generation that shook territories and dismantled strongholds; men like O. Ezekiel, Joseph Ayo Babalola, and Uma Ukpai, has largely passed, yet what confronts us now is a generation that struggles with even elementary spiritual authority, while ironically suppressing those who could rise stronger.<\/p>\n
It is a dangerous contradiction, he noted, to pray for impact while silencing your own successors. If you destroy or frustrate those meant to come after you, then your labour is ultimately empty. True kingdom work is not measured by how long you reign, but by who continues the work when you are gone, and whether they can take it further.<\/p>\n
That is why God\u2019s covenant with David included a successor. Divine establishment is never just about a man; it is about continuity. The true proof of a life well spent is not just what you built, but who you built to carry it beyond you.<\/p>\n
Reflecting on Solomon, the pastor warned against misinterpreting grace. Though Solomon strayed, his eventual return was tied to covenant, not a licence for imitation. The safe path, he urged, is to fix one\u2019s eyes on Christ, not on flawed human examples.<\/p>\n
The service closed with a resounding charge: examine your heart, align with God, and pursue the kind of life He can establish. For in the end, divine establishment is not a product of ambition, but a reward for a heart that fears God and walks uprightly before Him.<\/p>\n
