Tension has gripped Owo Local Government Area, following the abduction of six worshippers from a Celestial Church along the Uso\/Owo Expressway in Ondo State.<\/p>\n
The attack reportedly occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, February 25, while congregants were holding a vigil service.<\/p>\n
Armed assailants stormed the church premises and forcefully took six members to an undisclosed location, leaving the community in shock.<\/p>\n
The Nigeria Police Force in Ondo State confirmed the incident in a statement issued by its spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh.<\/p>\n
According to the police, officers swiftly responded after receiving a distress report and launched a coordinated operation, involving the Nigerian Army and local vigilante groups.<\/p>\n
Security operatives have since intensified search efforts in and around Owo.<\/p>\n
Authorities disclosed that one of the abducted worshippers has been rescued through joint security action. In addition, a suspected informant believed to have provided information to the attackers has been arrested and is currently assisting investigators.<\/p>\n
Police assured residents that efforts are ongoing to secure the safe return of the remaining victims and apprehend those responsible for the attack.<\/p>\n
Patrols have reportedly been reinforced along the expressway and surrounding areas to prevent further incidents.<\/p>\n
The latest abduction has heightened concerns about safety in parts of the state, particularly along major highways and isolated areas often targeted by kidnappers.<\/p>\n
Community members have called for sustained security presence and improved surveillance around worship centres, especially during late-night services.<\/p>\n
