{"id":8760,"date":"2026-02-02T20:14:14","date_gmt":"2026-02-02T20:14:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/panoramanews.com.ng\/?p=8760"},"modified":"2026-02-02T20:14:14","modified_gmt":"2026-02-02T20:14:14","slug":"malami-moves-to-block-efcc-from-seizing-three-properties","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/panoramanews.com.ng\/index.php\/2026\/02\/02\/malami-moves-to-block-efcc-from-seizing-three-properties\/","title":{"rendered":"Malami moves to block EFCC from seizing three properties"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/panoramanews.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/download.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"192\" height=\"107\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8761\" \/><br \/>\nBy Amah<br \/>\nKindly share:<\/p>\n<p>Former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, SAN, has asked a Federal High Court in Abuja to set aside an EFCC interim forfeiture order targeting three of his properties.<\/p>\n<p>The properties\u2014Plot 157, Lamido Crescent, Kano; a duplex at No. 12, Yalinga Street, Abuja; and the ADC Kadi Malami Foundation building\u2014were among 57 assets listed by the anti-graft agency on January 6, suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activities.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Nwite had granted the EFCC\u2019s ex-parte motion, directing the commission to publish the order for public objections within 14 days. The properties span Abuja, Kano, Kebbi, and Kaduna states.<\/p>\n<p>Malami\u2019s legal team, led by Joseph Daudu, SAN, argued that the EFCC obtained the order through \u201csuppression of material facts and misrepresentation\u201d and that the properties were fully declared in his asset declaration forms submitted to the Code of Conduct Bureau in 2019 and 2023. Property No. 48, they said, is held in trust for the estate of Malami\u2019s late father.<\/p>\n<p>The motion seeks to vacate the interim forfeiture order and restrain the EFCC from interfering with Malami\u2019s ownership, possession, or control of the properties.
