share:<\/p>\n<p>Full-time professors in Nigerian universities will now earn an additional \u20a61.8 million annually, while full-time Readers are to receive an extra \u20a6870,000 per year, following the approval of a new allowance by the Federal Government.<br \/>\nThe development was announced on Wednesday in Abuja by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, during the presentation of the renegotiated agreement between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).<br \/>\nThe new benefit, tagged the \u201cProfessorial Cadre Allowance,\u201d is designed to apply specifically to full-time academic staff at the professorial and Reader levels.<br \/>\nAccording to the Minister, the allowance forms part of broader efforts by the Federal Government to improve the welfare of university lecturers and strengthen the higher education system.<br \/>\nFurther details of the agreement are expected to be released
