Terrorists have reportedly ambushed troops heading to rescue kidnapped schoolgirls in Kebbi State, injuring several of them.<\/p>\n
Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff, COAS, had directed troops of Operation Fasan Yamma to launch an \u201call out\u201d attack against the terrorists, who abducted 25 schoolgirls at Government Girls Secondary School, Maga and killing the vice principal.<\/p>\n
Shaibu had ordered ordered the soldiers: \u201cYou must continue day and night fighting. We must find these children.<\/p>\n
\u201cOnce you receive information on something like this, act professionally and decisively. This is not just about our image; it is about doing our job properly.\u201d<\/p>\n
Unfortunately, the soldiers were ambushed by the terrorists while complying with the directives of the COAS, with several of them sustaining various degrees of injuries while their
\noperational vehicle was also riddled with bullet holes.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Kebbi State Government has said two of the kidnapped schoolgirls have escaped from their captors.<\/p>\n
Halima Bande, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, told Channels Television that 26 students were abducted during the attack, adding that two girls managed to regain their freedom, leaving 24 in captivity.<\/p>\n
The two escapees were identified as Salma and Hauwa\u2019u Liman.<\/p>\n
