The Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, CITN, has announced the transition of its founding President, Chief David Olorunleke, FCTI.<\/p>\n

Chief Olorunleke departed this life peacefully on Friday, October 24, 2025.<\/p>\n

The CITN in a statement in Lagos, on Monday, which was signed by its Registrar\/Chief Executive, Mrs Afolake Oso, announced the demise of the respected chief.<\/p>\n

“It is with gratitude to God for a life well lived and solemn respect that the Management, on behalf of the 17th President and Council of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), announce the passing of Chief David Ajibola Olorunleke, FCTI \u2014 the Institute\u2019s founding and first President\/Chairman of Council (1985-1995) and affectionately revered as the \u201cDoyen of Taxation.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cWe kindly request your prayers, reflections, and tributes as we celebrate his life, honour his achievements, and reaffirm our commitment to advancing the profession he helped build,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n

It said Olorunleke was a revered figure in Nigerian taxation, serving as the Institute\u2019s first President\/Chairman of Council from 1985-1995, and former Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).<\/p>\n

The statement described Olorunleke as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and an enduring champion of the tax profession in Nigeria.<\/p>\n

According to the statement, the Institute has opened a condolence register at its offices in Lagos and Abuja, inviting members and stakeholders to pay tribute to the late tax legend.<\/p>\n
