Prof. Wasiu Adeyemo, Chief Medical Director, Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), has urged staff of the hospital to remain dedicated and resilient in the face of challenges.<\/p>\n
Adeyemo, gave the advice at the 2025 Cultural Day celebration of the institution, held as part of activities marking the ongoing LUTH Week, on Friday in Lagos.<\/p>\n
He described the hospital\u2019s staff as \u201cthe strength behind its continuous success,\u201d adding that their commitment had kept the institution thriving for over six decades.<\/p>\n
Adeyemo said the Cultural Day provided an opportunity for staff to relax, celebrate their achievements, and promote unity within the hospital community.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is 63 years now that the hospital was established, and we need to celebrate our achievements.<\/p>\n
\u201cYes, we know that we have challenges, but one thing is that we do not want those challenges to define us.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn spite of issues, such as the `Japa\u2019 syndrome and remuneration concerns, there is still hope. The Federal Government is doing a lot in terms of infrastructure, and we are also working on improving staff welfare,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Adeyemo noted that the hospital\u2019s diverse workforce represented nearly every tribe and community in Nigeria, reflecting the spirit of unity in diversity that defines LUTH.<\/p>\n
Also speaking, Prof. Babawale Bello, Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, said the event was designed to foster camaraderie and strengthen relationships among staff members.<\/p>\n
According to him, it was part of a weeklong celebration featuring a health walk, symposium, town hall meetings, and games.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis day is for everyone to unwind, relate with every culture represented in LUTH, and feel as one big family,\u201d Bello said.<\/p>\n
Similarly, Mrs Omolola Fakeye, Director of Administration, described the celebration as a symbol of unity and togetherness, noting that it reminded staff of their shared goals beyond their professional roles.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe essence of this celebration is unity. It reminds us that beyond the hospital environment, we are a family full of hope,\u201d Fakeye said.<\/p>\n
