Several dismissed police officers have regained their jobs after the Police Service Commission, PSC, reviewed disciplinary cases meted to them.<\/p>\n
Ikechukwu Ani, the PSC spokesperson, said in a statement on Sunday, the commission deliberated on 24 appeals and one pending disciplinary matter during its recent plenary session to ensure fairness in the sanctions meted to them.<\/p>\n
The decisions, Ani added, shows the commission\u2019s commitment to equity in handling disciplinary issues involving police personnel.<\/p>\n
Some of the beneficiaries of the review, who were reinstated include ACP Grace Obiageli Ejiofor, who was compulsorily retired after an incident on September 8, 2023, at the Old Netim Division in Akamkpa, Cross River State. Her reinstatement takes effect from the date of her initial retirement, with full restoration of rank and placement in line with her contemporaries.<\/p>\n
Ani further disclosed that the commission lifted the severe reprimand imposed on ACP Muhammad Awwal Yunusa, restored the rank and position of CSP Allwell Ihekandu Okwuonu, and approved reinstatements for SP Clement Awoyemi, ASP Bamiselu Oluwaseun, ASP Ahmed Monday, and ASP Imoohi Doora.<\/p>\n
Similarly, the commission dismissed petitions against Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) Bzigu Dali, describing allegations of falsified records as baseless. It nullified a warning letter not issued by the PSC and reversed the unauthorised change of his date of birth from April 10, 1967, to April 10, 1966.<\/p>\n
DIG Hashimu Argungu (retd), the PSC Chairman, reiterated that the commission was committed to handling disciplinary cases promptly to prevent injustice and career stagnation among officers.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Commission will ensure that pending disciplinary matters are treated without delay. Officers cleared of wrongdoing will not have their career progression impeded, while those found culpable will face appropriate sanctions,\u201d Argungu stated.<\/p>\n
Several promotions were also announced during the opening of its second plenary meeting on Thursday.<\/p>\n
The promotions include the appointment of a new Deputy Inspector-General of Police and the promotion of one Commissioner of Police to Assistant Inspector-General.<\/p>\n
Others promoted include SP Omenihu Obinna, Commander, Anti-Cult Unit, Abia State Command; DSP Bankole Olajide Joseph, Commander, Bank Guard, Lagos State Command; and several officers confirmed as Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP)\u2014notably Ede Stella Ukamaka of the Police Hospital, Awka; Omeife Bethrand Emeka of 45 PMF, Force Headquarters, Abuja; and Nnamdi Nwoba, Officer-in-Charge of Surveillance, Ubakala Division, Abia State.<\/p>\n
ASP Adeyemi Adeola, Chief of Staff to the Chairman of the Lagos State Task Force, was also promoted to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
