Natasha tasks PDP members on memorable
\n Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the Senator representing Kogi Central in the Red Chamber of the National Assembly has charged the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to use its upcoming elective National Convention to introduce new new ideas and cultural inclusivity.<\/p>\n
Akpoti-Uduaghan, who recently rejoined the Senate after serving a six-month suspension, gave the charge during the inaugural meeting of the entertainment sub-committee meeting of the convention, which she chairs, in Abuja.<\/p>\n
The Senator noted that though the committee members were diligently selected, adding, however that the party and Nigerians expect a great deal from them to make the convention a success.<\/p>\n
She said the sub-committee should go beyond providing foods and drinks for the party members, and urged them to come up with cross cultural activities that would appeal to other Nigerians that would watch the programme online.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe must ensure that our entertainment cuts across the cultures of our dear country. We must make sure that no region is left out of representing and participating in the cultural festivities,” she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will expect a great deal from our host states, which is Oyo, because we would love to be entertained by their beautiful cultural groups and all that.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe would expect intentional contributions, like we said, respect for all tribes and respect for all religions. The very best of Nigeria should be put to the fore.\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Akpoti-Uduaghan added that the entertainment should be tailored to attract new members to the party, saying parties grow by the inflow of persons.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are some members of the ruling party and some of other smaller parties that must admire something in us and find hope and trust to join us.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are many Nigerians who have turned the age of 18 since the last convention, even from the last election and they are searching for a party upon which they can entrust their political future.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo we must present our activities such that we will be the admired party for the youth.\u201d <\/p>\n
Furthermore, Akpoti-Uduaghan posited that the sub-committee could incorporate their ideas, especially through the musical acts and the cultural activities for that day, adding that the sub-committee must open up to new vibes, new ideas, new participation and new vision.<\/p>\n
She urged the sub-committee members to organise a pre-convention for cultural challenge in their respective states to get the best.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn Friday today, as the chairperson of this committee, I will take it upon myself to put out a challenge for musical participation from my state and probably the best will win an award of a cash token and also a chance to participate,\u201d the Senator.<\/p>\n
Dr Amina Bryhm, who doubles as National Women Leader of the party, and the secretary of the sub-committee, told newsmen that the preparations for the convention had got to an advanced stage.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou can see I am already wearing the uniform for the convention. So, we are not joking,” she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor those who were thinking we need help, you can see the evidence, how prepared we are, that our fabrics are already out.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll the committees are up and running. We are just doing finishing touches to all the caterers, all the artists that will be part of the event and we hope to organise a memorable convention.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
