Operatives of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service on Tuesday successfully rescued nine persons from a burning multi-floor floor building in the state.<\/p>\n

According to Mr. Ogabi Olajide, the Deputy Controller-General of the Service, the affected structure, Afriland Tower building on Broad Street, Lagos Island, five out of the nine victims, were successfully resuscitated.<\/p>\n

The burning structure houses a branch of the United Bank for Africa, UBA. <\/p>\n

Videos on social media showed trapped occupants smashing and staff smashing and climbing out of windows as they struggled to escape.<\/p>\n

He further explained that the fire outbreak started in the inverter room on the basement of the building while smoke spread across all the floors and engulfed the edifice.<\/p>\n

“After a call was received, fire crews from Ebute Elefun Fire Station and Sari Iganmu Fire Station responded,” he added. <\/p>\n

\u201cA total of nine victims have been rescued, with five individuals successfully resuscitated,” Olajide said.<\/p>\n
