Police operatives in Anambra have deleted four terrorists in their bid to make the society safer for residents.<\/p>\n
The terrorist had not only abducted a man and collected a N20 million ransom from his family but also still refused to release him. <\/p>\n
However, they were decimated by the operatives in concert with the Anambra State-controlled Agunechemba Security Group.<\/p>\n
Tochukwu Ikenga, the spokesperson of the state police command disclosed in a statement issued in Awka on Friday that the incident took place at the terrorists’ camp at Awa in Orumba North Local Government Area on August 21, 2025 when officers of the Rapid Response Squad, RRS, Awkuzu, working jointly with the Anambra State Vigilante Group, AVG, raided the place, acting on credible intelligence.<\/p>\n
According to Ikenga, the well-coordinated attack on the insurgents\u2019 camp, leading to the rescue of the kidnapped victim lasted 15 hours.<\/p>\n
The rescued victim’s family had paid a N20 million ransom but was still held in captivity by the abductors until his his rescue by the police.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the ensuing gun battle, four of the criminal elements were neutralised, while several others escaped with bullet wounds,\u201d Ikenga said.<\/p>\n
Some dangerous weapons, including two pump-action guns, a fabricated AK-47 rifle, a K2 assault rifle, a locally made hunter\u2019s gun, radio transmission equipment, three locally made improvised explosive devices, gas cylinders, cables, food supplies, vehicles, and mobile phones. Among the vehicles seized were a black Lexus RX 350 SUV and four Toyota Camry cars with various registration numbers, were recovered from the camp.<\/p>\n
Ikioye Orutugu, the state Commissioner of Police, assured Anambra residents on the command’s commitment to ridding the state of criminal elements.<\/p>\n
