The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has said its preoccupation is to rebuild the party ahead of the 2027 general elections rather than going after members that are guilty of anti-party activities.<\/p>\n
Hon. Fred Agbedi, the Chairman of the South-South Caucus of the House of Representatives, explained the party resolved at its National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting in Abuja on Monday to ignore the likes of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, and others for now.<\/p>\n
He added that besides Wike, there are other party members who have committed and is still committing anti-party activities, even among governors but that the PDP now understands the kind of crisis it is going through and is trying to resolve it.<\/p>\n
According to him, there are possibilities that the party will come out of its challenges stronger, united, and well-organised ahead of the 2027 general elections.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s not about Wike alone. It is beyond Wike. You know, there are a lot of others who have played anti-party in one way or the other, who are members of PDP, who are saying, \u2018No, no, no, I\u2019m going to support so-and-so person, I\u2019m going to vote for so-and-so person,\u2019 the lawmaker said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s clearly anti-party. But because PDP understands the kind of crisis it is going through and is resolving, it will not be chasing those people.<\/p>\n
\u201cRather, it will organize itself first before it thinks of the appropriate way to deal with matters like that.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are certain decisions that if you are the leader, you cannot take in a hurry. You take time, you navigate the contour in such a way that if you are taking a decision, the decision will lead you to land safely.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs of today, I don\u2019t think that the priority of PDP will be to drive one person or the other out of the party.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe know those who are playing some excessive roles, some actions that are inimical to the destruction or survival of the party.<\/p>\n
