Oseloka Obi, son of Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, has addressed recent online reports purporting him to be a homosexual.<\/p>\n
A social media enthusiast on X, with the handle@Waspapping_ stirred the controversy when he shared picture online purporting Obi\u2019s son and his male partner celebrating the latter\u2019s birthday .
\n\u201cPeter Obi\u2019s son and his partner are out there enjoying life, but Obidients will turn a blind eye. Well, congratulations to the soon-to-be couple, the X user said in the post.\u201d<\/p>\n
The post raised a storm of divergent reactions from many Nigerians. <\/p>\n
However, the younger Obi has deplored the attacks and false narratives about his person and described them as distractions from Nigeria\u2019s mounting. challenges.<\/p>\n
In an open letter to Nigerians, Oseloka said he had long refrained from responding to \u201cvitriol, scorn, and suspicion\u201d directed at him but decided to speak out after what he described as persistent and malicious fabrications.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause of my father\u2019s involvement in Nigerian politics, there has been a persistent curiosity \u2014 and, at times, malicious obsession \u2014 with me,\u201d he wrote. \u201cI have no social media presence and no interest in maintaining one, so I rarely correct these falsehoods. But perhaps it is time I address them.\u201d<\/p>\n
He frowned at people dragging his private life into politics. <\/p>\n
\u201cTo assume that my life or choices are somehow political statements is a flawed and childish calculation. It reveals more about the pettiness of those spreading such narratives than it does about me or my father,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The professional actor also clarified misconceptions about his career path. He noted that he chose a different field in theatre and filmmaking
\ndespite his father being a businessman and economist.
\nHe also rejected insinuations of nepotism, stating: \u201cI was raised to know that my father\u2019s wealth is not mine, and that I must build my own life.\u201d

\nOn the distorted claims based on his photos, he said: \u201cThese are not revelations. They are not expos\u00e9s. They are simply misrepresentations; fiction spun from pictures. What is being circulated is gossip.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur nation still struggles with insecurity, a weakened economy, crumbling infrastructure, failing healthcare, and politicians who steal from the people they swore to serve. And yet, for some, the priority is to spread gossip about who Peter Obi\u2019s son appears with in a photo. This is a distraction from the real crises that matter to all Nigerians.<\/p>\n
“My father has my vote, not because he is my father, but because he is the right man for the job. If others wish to go low, invent scandals, or attack me to wound him, they are free to do so. But we will go high, and we will continue to focus on the future of Nigeria.\u201d<\/p>\n
