The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) has announced an end to all ties with its counterpart in Wales following the latter’s appointment of a confirmed gay cleric, Bishop Cherry Vann, as the Archbishop of Wales.<\/p>\n

Announcing the development during the opening session of the Church Conference of Chancellors, Registrars, and Legal Officers in Abuja on Tuesday, the Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba, the Primate of the Church of Nigeria, described the Church of Wales\u2019 decision as a \u201cblatant departure from biblical truth\u201d.<\/p>\n

He noted that it was a dangerous pattern among Western churches. <\/p>\n

\u201cA few days ago, the media went awash with the news of the action of the revisionists in the Western Church\u2026 These individuals have not relented from their evil agenda; rather, they have intensified it,\u201d Ndukuba said, adding that the election of Archbishop Vann, was an \u201cabomination\u201d and unbiblical. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe election of a lesbian woman does not originate as a mission. She was nurtured from an acolyte to a deaconess. It was only upon becoming a bishop that she came out openly and has persisted in defending her position,\u201d the Primare stated.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe reject the election of the Right Reverend Cherry Vann as the Archbishop of Wales. Just as the Church of Nigeria took steps after the election of Gene Robinson in the United States, we are severing every tie and relationship with the Church of Wales.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
