President Bola Tinubu has heartily congratulated Nigeria\u2019s women\u2019s national basketball team, D\u2019Tigress, for emerging victorious in the just concluded 2025 FIBA Women\u2019s AfroBasket Championship.<\/p>\n
The team on Sunday night trounced Mali 78\u201364 to grab the coveted trophy at the end of the tournament, which was held at the Palais des Sports de Treichville in Abidjan, C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire.<\/p>\n
Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s spokesperson, in an official statement said the president lauded the team\u2019s feat, which has brought immense pride and enhanced Nigeria\u2019s status on the global sporting stage.<\/p>\n
Tinubu commended the Coach Rena Wakama-tutored team for their exceptional skill, unwavering resilience, and strong sense of unity, that resulted in clinching the AfroBasket title for a record fifth consecutive time and for the seventh time. <\/p>\n
\u200e\u201dYour superb performance throughout the competition has made Nigeria proud,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n

The president also applauded Coach Wakama and her technical crew for their remarkable leadership and strategic execution.<\/p>\n
