Fred Ajudua, former Lagos socialite, is to remain in custody, following the rejection of his fresh bail application by Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos.<\/p>\n

Ajudua is on trial for allegedly defrauding Zad Abu Zalaf, a Palestinian national, of $1,043,000 under false pretences.<\/p>\n

He is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. <\/p>\n

The Supreme Court had on May 5, 2025, revoked the bail, which had been granted Ajudua by the Court of Appeal in Lagos.<\/p>\n

Ajudua’s counsel had requested that his client be granted bail, pending the determination of his trial, adding that he is down with a chronic kidney disease.<\/p>\n

The defendant was present in court during yesterday\u2019s proceeding, the defendant was present in court, accompanied by some medical personnel from the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH. <\/p>\n

However, the prosecution opposed the request.<\/p>\n

Ruling on the matter, Justice Dada held that she preferred to wait for the outcome of the decision of the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn view of the applications filed at the Supreme Court, I am constrained to make any decision with respect to this instant application filed by the defence counsel. I will abide by the decisions of the Supreme Court,\u201d Dada said, and
