No fewer than 14 persons were on Thursday killed in a fresh attack in Plateau State.<\/p>\n
The victims, including women and babies, were returning from the weekly market held in Bokkos town when they were ambushed and killed along the Chirang Road in the Mangor District of Bokkos Local Government Area. <\/p>\n
It was gathered that the attackers opened fire on a vehicle carrying the victims and left several dead at the scene. <\/p>\n
The Bokkos Cultural Development Forum (BCDF), has confirmed the tragic incident.<\/p>\n
Farmasum Fuddang, the chairman of the Forum condemned the attack, expressing frustration over the breakdown of peace efforts between the farmers and herders in the communities.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe victims were returning from the weekly market in Bokkos town when their vehicle was ambushed. Victims included women and babies. This violence occurs despite various so-called peace and reconciliation efforts,\u201d Fuddang lamented.<\/p>\n
\u201cTheir goal is to take control of the entire local government area, which is recognised as the potato headquarters of Nigeria.\u201d <\/p>\n
Fuddang also suggested that the attacks in the area were not unconnected to the desire of some group group to Lord it over the people.<\/p>\n
However, Saleh Adamu, the chairman of the Gan Allah Fulani Development Association (GAFDAN) described the accusation as untennable. <\/p>\n
According to him: \u201cThe allegation has no basis because there is no evidence that the attack was carried out by the Fulani. And no herder was arrested at the scene to prove it was carried out by Fulani. This allegation is the first of its kind here.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen an incident occurs, security forces do investigate before identifying the perpetrators. We condemn the attack in its totality, as the killing of innocent people is not in any way justified by any offense. We condemn the killings.\u201d <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
