{"id":6982,"date":"2025-07-13T19:18:09","date_gmt":"2025-07-13T19:18:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/panoramanews.com.ng\/?p=6982"},"modified":"2025-07-13T20:25:55","modified_gmt":"2025-07-13T20:25:55","slug":"ex-president-muhammadu-buhari-is-dead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/panoramanews.com.ng\/index.php\/2025\/07\/13\/ex-president-muhammadu-buhari-is-dead\/","title":{"rendered":"Ex-President Muhammadu Buhari is dead, Tinubu sends Shettima to London"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6983\" src=\"https:\/\/panoramanews.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/download-1-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"187\" height=\"270\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Buhari<\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\">By Publisher<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Kindly share:<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Muhammadu Buhari, the immediate past President of Nigeria, is dead.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<p>The transition of the former Nigerian leader has been confirmed by his aides.<\/p>\n<p>The confirmation was posted by his former aide, Bashir Ahmad, and his spokesperson, Garba Shehu.<\/p>\n<p>Garba Shehu short statement reads:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe family of the former president has announced the passing on of the former president, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, this afternoon in a clinic in London.<br \/>\nMay Allah accept him in Aljannatul Firdaus, Amin.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Buhari was a former military head if state who contested four times to be a democratic president and succeeded at the fourth attempt.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<p>He died in a London hospital earlier on Sunday.<\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<p>Meanwhile, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in a condolence message announced seven days of mourning as a mark of respect for the\u00a0former president.<\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nHe also said that an emergency Federal Executive Council session has been on Tuesday, with regard to Buhari&#8217;s death, adding that\u00a0he would be given a state funeral.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a mark of respect to our former leader, I have directed that all national flags fly at half-staff across the country for seven days from today. I have also summoned an emergency Federal Executive Council session on Tuesday, dedicated to his honour. The federal government will accord President Buhari full state honours befitting his towering contributions to our country,\u201d Tinubu said in a statement released by his spokesperson, Bayou Onanuga, which confirmed that Buhari died in London at about 4.30pm.<\/p><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The president \u00a0also directed Vice-President Kashim Shettima to travel to London and accompany the remains of Buhari back to Nigeria.<\/div>\n<p>\u201cPresident Tinubu has spoken with Mrs Aishat Buhari, the former President\u2019s widow and offered his deep condolences,\u201d the statement further disclosed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident Tinubu has also ordered Vice President Kashim Shettima to proceed to the United Kingdom to accompany President Muhammadu Buhari\u2019s body back to Nigeria.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Buhari By Publisher Kindly share: Muhammadu Buhari, the immediate past President of Nigeria, is dead.
