Nigerian Air Force, NAF, fighter jets have pounded the logistics base of terrorists\u00a0 near the Mandara Mountains in Borno State, killing scores of them.<\/p>\n

Air Commodore Ehimen Ejo\u00addame, the NAF spokesman,\u00a0 disclosed that the strikes were conducted on Sunday, July 6, following con\u00adfirmed Intelligence, Surveil\u00adlance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions at a locstion long known as \u201cforti\u00adfied enclaves\u201d for the Jama\u2019atu Ah\u00adlis Sunna Lidda\u2019awati wal-Jihad (JAS), a faction of Boko Haram.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n\u201cThe locations, known for their rugged, mountain-cov\u00adered terrain along Nigeria\u2019s bor\u00adder with Cameroon, had recently witnessed increased terrorist ac\u00adtivity, including reports of a logis\u00adtics build-up and the presence of senior JAS Commanders,” Ejafome said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe strikes followed confir\u00admatory Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance missions re\u00advealing clusters of structures fit\u00adted with solar panels, black flags, and fortified compounds, clear signs of insurgent resurgence and preparations for coordinated attacks.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn response, NAF strike air\u00adcraft executed a series of well-co\u00adordinated air interdictions, tar\u00adgeting and destroying high-value terrorist infrastructure, including logistics warehouses, command centres, and defensive shelters.<\/p>\n

\u201cSeveral terrorists were neu\u00adtralised in the operation, effective\u00adly disrupting their supply chain and diminishing their capability to sustain further offensives.\u201d<\/p>\n

In another development, Nigerian troops on Sunday arrested a suspected bandit while planning to attack unsuspecting commuters in the Gashish District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.<\/p><\/div>\n

The suspect was intercepted while in an ambush position along the Kafi Abu-Rakwok Road.<\/p>\n

According to Major Samson Zha\u00adkom, the Spokesman for Operation Safe Haven, who confirmed the develop\u00adment in a statement on Monday, a fabricated AK-47 rifle, an AK-47 magazine, and 30 rounds of 7.62mm (special) ammunition were revovered from the suspect.<\/p>\n

He added that the suspect is currently in the custody of the troops alongside the recovered weapons and ammunition\u00a0for fur\u00adther investigation.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn July 6, 2025, troops of 3 Division\/Oper\u00adation Safe Haven on night patrol along Kafi Abu-Rakwok Road in Gashish District in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State intercepted a suspected militia,” the statement read.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe suspect was arrested while in ambush position with possible intent of attacking un\u00adsuspecting commuters in the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one fabricated AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine and 30 rounds of 7.62 mm (special) ammunition.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe suspect and recovered weapon and ammunition are in the custody of troops for further action. Meanwhile, efforts are on\u00adgoing to conduct follow-up opera\u00adtions to intercept other members of the criminal syndicate.<\/p>\n

\u201cTroops of 3 Division\/Opera\u00adtion Safe Haven are intensifying operations against the use of fire\u00adarms by unauthorised individuals to disrupt the security of the Joint Operations Area.<\/p>\n
