\u00a0Peter Obi, the former Labour Party presidential candidate, stated his willingness\u00a0to serve only one term as president if that is the decision of the proposed\u00a0coalition.<\/div>\n
Obi said so at XSpace session titled #PeterObiOnParallelFacts, saying he would accept to serve only one term and\u00a0hand over power to the North in 2031.<\/div>\n

According to him, character and integrity outweigh any desire for political office.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Responding ylto a question from a participant, the former Anambra governor said:\u00a0\u201cIf the agreement is one term, I will leave on May 28, 2031 \u2014 not even May 29. I am not desperate to be president. I am desperate to see Nigeria work.\u201d<\/div>\n
He emphasised the importance of political zoning and coalition discipline, principles he respected during his tenure as Anambra governor, despite personal political cost.Obi denied that any negotiations with regard to whether he would be running as vice on a\u00a0joint ticket with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for the 2027 elections,\u00a0insisting that the coalition is focused on Nigeria\u2019s pressing challenges.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\u201cIf the coalition is about sharing tickets and power for its sake, count me out. I\u2019m not interested. I want a coalition that stops the killings in Borno, puts food on people\u2019s tables, and gets our industries working,\u201d he said.On whether his supporters might resist the idea of a political merger, Obi explained that the issue was not one of rejection but of priorities.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not about rejection. We\u2019ve never even discussed tickets. It\u2019s about Nigeria first,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Obi described President Tinubu\u2019s recent trip to St. Lucia, as \u201cout of touch\u201d and \u201ca misplacement of priorities.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can\u2019t build strong international relations when your domestic house is on fire,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re losing lives in Niger, Benue, Zamfara\u2026 and we\u2019re galavanting. You can\u2019t travel around the world when people are being buried at home. Leaders must stay and lead from the front,\u201d Obi stated.<\/div>\n
