Senator Adams Oshiomhole, was on Wednesday accused of disrupting the operations of Air Peace after missing his flight scheduled for 6.30am.<\/div>\n

According to a release issued by Air Peace, Oshiomhole, who is currently the Senator, representing Edo North arrived at the airport at approximately 06:10 AM for Flight P47120 after the boarding process had closed, and the flight departed as scheduled.<\/p>\n

The development was said to have angered the lawmaker, who allegedly physically assaulted Air Peace staff and forcefully barricaded the terminal\u2019s entrance, thereby obstructing other passengers from gaining entry into the terminal.<\/div>\n
\nThe management of the domestic airline in the release, strongly condemned Oshiomhole\u2019s \u2018unruly conduct\u2019, and restated its zero-tolerance stance on violence or any form of aggression against its staff and passengers.<\/p>\n

\u201cAir Peace strongly condemns the unruly conduct of a prominent Nigerian politician who disrupted airport operations on the morning of Wednesday, June 11, 2025,” the statement read.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe prominent individual in question arrived at Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1 (Zulu Hall) at approximately 06:10 AM for Flight P47120 scheduled to depart Lagos for Abuja at 06:30 AM. In line with our standard on-time departure policy, the boarding process had closed, and the flight departed as scheduled.<\/p>\n

\u201cUpon being informed of the missed flight, the politician resorted to violence, physically assaulting our staff and forcefully barricading the terminal\u2019s entrance. He went as far as sealing the entry gate and manning the access point, effectively obstructing other passengers from gaining entry into the terminal.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis unacceptable behavior caused significant disruption to ongoing operations and affected numerous travelers scheduled for various flights. To minimize further inconvenience, Air Peace swiftly activated an operational contingency plan to board affected passengers through an alternate terminal, ensuring the continuity of their travel plans.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are deeply saddened that such a high-profile figure displayed conduct so unbecoming and disruptive to fellow passengers and our personnel. Air Peace maintains a zero-tolerance stance on violence or any form of aggression against our staff and passengers.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe urge all guests, to remain civil and cooperative at all times. Aviation operations are bound by strict timelines and safety protocols, and we remain committed to upholding these standards while delivering safe and timely services to the Nigerian public.<\/p>\n

\u201cAir Peace continues to stand for discipline, integrity, and respect for due process. No individual, no matter how influential, is above these values.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n

However,\u00a0Oshiomhole has denied disrupting Air Peace flight operations.<\/p>\n

Speaking in a statement, the Senator claimed that he decided to fight for Nigerians who were allegedly being \u2018extorted\u2019 by the airline through sudden change in time for closing the check-in counter.<\/p>\n

According to him, after deliberately categorising himself and other passengers as late for boarding, the airline staff were allegedly collecting higher amount of money from some passengers who they smuggle into the aircraft after making everyone believe that boarding time had elapsed.<\/p>\n

He said for a flight ticket of N149,600 those categorised as late were being surcharged an additional\u00a0 sum of N109,900 to be moved to the next flight scheduled for 8.30am, he said this was unacceptable.<\/p>\n

According to Oshiomhole, he refused to be \u2018sorted\u2019 by an Air Peace manager who came to meet him at the counter and allowed to board through the backdoor just because he is a Senator.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
