Alex Otti, the Governor of Abia State, has announced that his administration is set to transform public transportation in the state.<\/div>\n
\n

According to him, the project would commence operation before the end of July.<\/p>\n

Speaking during the \u201cPromise Kept Carnival\u201d, organised jointly by the Aba Business Community and Landlords Association to celebrate the completion of the reconstruction of the Port Harcourt Road, Aba, Otti said disclosed that the transport system would begin with the introduction of 20 electric buses and the completion of modern bus terminals across key locations.<\/p>\n

The governor also said the construction of new transport terminals was making steady progress, adding that\u00a0the project is part of his administration\u2019s commitment to transforming Abia\u2019s public infrastructure and embracing clean energy solutions.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the next two months, not more than two months, our transport system will start working,” he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you go around, you will see the bus terminals we are building.\u201d<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Otti said the initial phase of the transport upgrade would include the deployment of the 20 fully electric buses, which the state had paid for.<\/p>\n

Emmanuel Emeruwa, the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, lauded the Otti-led administration for it’s innovative programmes and policies that facilitate development in the state.<\/p>\n

Chief John Udegbala, who chaired the occasion, said that the Aba business community and landlord association decided to put together an event to show total appreciation to the governor.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are saying thank you because the projects executed by this administration are numerous but Port Harcourt Road stands out,\u201d Udegbala said.<\/p>\n

He noted that the governor’s giant strides in Aba had helped to encourage investors and business owners that left Aba to return.<\/p>\n

The Convener of the carnival, Mr Onyeka Udeaja, explained that the event was organised because of the desire of Aba residents to thank God for the transformation in the city.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis carnival of praise is totally dedicated to God for answering our prayers for good governance,” Udeaja said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat we are witnessing in Abia is the evidence of God\u2019s hand upon you and even those that did not believe can now see.<\/p>\n

\u201cTime will not permit me to enumerate your numerous achievements but one sterling project of your administration that stands out is the completion of Port Harcourt Road.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Meanwhile, in a separate development,<\/p>\n

the state government has described transport operators as partners in governance.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\n

Dr Chimezie Ukaegbu, the Commissioner for Transport, said\u00a0this during the distribution of\u00a0fuel palliative to tricycle operators in Aba by the Abia State Tricycles Operators Union (ASTOPU).<\/p>\n

He hailed the group for the important role they play in the state\u2019s development and enjoined them to pay their taxes and levies regularly to enable the government to serve them better.<\/p>\n

He charged tricycle operators to obey traffic rules and assured them of the government\u2019s commitment\u00a0 to protecting their interests.<\/p>\n

Also speaking , Dr Obioma Nwaogbo,\u00a0the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transportation, urged\u00a0the operators to continue to support government\u2019s development agenda.<\/p>\n

Nwaogbo said that ASTOPU plays a central role in managing tricycle activities and deserved to benefit from government\u2019s initiatives.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0 Chairman of ASTOPU, Mr Victor Azubuike, said that the exercise was organised to celebrate the present administration\u2019s infrastructure development in Aba, adding that\u00a0the rehabilitation of roads in the commercial city had made their operations easier and reduced vehicle breakdowns significantly.<\/p>\n

\u201cBefore now, we often visited mechanics due to poor road conditions, but the situation has improved,\u201d Azubuike said, and\u00a0commended the government\u2019s flood control efforts, promising to continue supporting Gov.
