Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, on Monday confirmed that the embattled governor of Rivers State, Similanayi Fubara, had visited him in company with two APC governors and an elder statesman in search of peace.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The minister had locked horns with his successor and political godson over the soul of Rivers State.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The protracted feud, which seriously divided the state resulted in the declaration of the state of emergency in the state by President Bola Tinubu, who suspended all elected officials of the state including the governor, his deputy, Ngozi Odu and all the lawmakers in the state House of Assembly for six months in the first instance.<\/div>\n

Wike confirmed the visit to journalists on Monday, saying: “Fubara came to me with two governors and one elder statesman. Just that they are both APC governors. He said he wants peace.\u201d<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
It was reported that Fubara was accompanied to the meeting at Wike’s residence the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru, and former Ogun State Governor Olusegun Osoba.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a0Things took a dramatic twist on Sunday when\u00a0 indicated that he has lost interest in returning to office, adding that his \u201cspirit has already left\u201d the Government House.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
He made the statement during a service of songs in Port Harcourt in honour of the late elder statesman, Chief Edwin Clark.\u201cThis is my first time speaking publicly since the events of March 18,\u201d Fubara said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve attended several gatherings, but I\u2019ve been careful with my words. When the mood of an event doesn\u2019t align with my beliefs, I feel uncomfortable\u2014because many of you don\u2019t truly understand the situation.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo you think I\u2019m even interested in going back? Just look at me\u2014I look better now. I have peace. If I had my way, I wouldn\u2019t go back there. My spirit left Government House long ago.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis program is a tribute to Pa Clark. It\u2019s not about Sim Fubara. Even though I respect the message from the bishop, today is not the time for political declarations. Otherwise, people will leave here saying Fubara gathered his supporters to attack the minister or the President. That\u2019s not my mission.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Reacting to Fubara’s comments, Wike expressed doubt as regards the sincerity of that statement.<\/div>\n

\u201cThey were pushing him, where are the governors now. Assuming now you don\u2019t settle this problem and the state of emergency ends, has the problem ended? No,” Wike said.\u201cAssembly will still be the same as they have been, so the crisis will still be there. They will not pass your budget and you won\u2019t get money from the federal allocation.<\/p>\n

\u201cI told him \u2018I don\u2019t think you have the capacity to really make this peace because it\u2019s very easy. That is why when I read what I read yesterday, I felt so bad.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy? If you are making peace, your people are demonstrating everyday, insulting people, how do you feel about that peace?<\/p>\n

\u201cHe made a comment yesterday which I feel for him. He doesn\u2019t need to be under this kind of situation if he had listened to people who put themselves down despite all odds and said no we will use him.<\/p>\n

\u201cYet, you can\u2019t calm down just within 100 days in office? What kind of pushing will people push you.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow do I know his spirit is not there? We are politicians and we can say things to attract public sympathy. I\u2019m not carried away by all these things.<\/p>\n
