{"id":5905,"date":"2025-04-30T12:35:13","date_gmt":"2025-04-30T12:35:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/panoramanews.com.ng\/?p=5905"},"modified":"2025-04-30T12:35:13","modified_gmt":"2025-04-30T12:35:13","slug":"shakeup-at-nnpcl-port-harcourt-warri-kaduna-mds-others-sacked","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/panoramanews.com.ng\/index.php\/2025\/04\/30\/shakeup-at-nnpcl-port-harcourt-warri-kaduna-mds-others-sacked\/","title":{"rendered":"Shakeup at NNPCL: Port Harcourt, Warri, Kaduna MDs, others sacked"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-5906\" src=\"https:\/\/panoramanews.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Screenshot_20250430-133210-300x249.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"249\" srcset=\"https:\/\/panoramanews.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Screenshot_20250430-133210-300x249.jpg 300w, https:\/\/panoramanews.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Screenshot_20250430-133210.jpg 720w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>By Publisher<\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Kindly share:<\/p>\n<p>The new management and board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, led by its Group Chief Executive Officer, Bayo Ojulari, and Musa Ahmadu-Kida, as executive non-chairman, have reportedly sacked the managing directors of the Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna refineries operated by the state-owned firm.<\/p>\n<p>Also, some senior officials of NNPCL have been shown the exit door, among them is Bala Wunti, a former chief of the National Petroleum Investment Management Services, a subsidiary of NNPCL.<\/p>\n<p>This comes as the new management also asked many officials with one year to their various retirement dates to leave.<\/p>\n<p>Reliable sources at the NNPCL who preferred anonymity confirmed the managerial shake-up to DAILY POST on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n<p>The source said, \u201cThese people are MDs of Port Harcourt Refining Company, Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company, and the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo you know more on the issue, some other senior managers were asked to leave as well\u201d, the source stated.<\/p>\n<p>Also, another official of the company confirmed this, stating that \u201cBala Wunti was also told to leave. Several of them who have a year to retirement were asked to go. Maryam Idrisu was appointed Managing Director of NNPC Trading.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, the Spokesperson of NNPCL, Olufemi Soneye, is yet to respond to enquiry on the shake-up as of the time of filing this report.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that in April 2025, President Bola Tinubu sacked Mele Kyari and Chief Pius Akinyelure as GCEO and Chairman of the Board and replaced them with Ojulari and Ahmadu-Kinda.<\/p>\n<p>The sack came amid reports of abysmal performance of Port Harcourt and Warri refineries after their rehabilitation last year.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the announcement of production of petroleum products at the Port Harcourt refinery, the plant had operated below 50 percent.<\/p>\n<p>More changes followed the revelation that the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company has remained shut since January 25, 2025, due to safety issues in its Crude Distillation Unit Main Heater.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that an April 2025 document from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority revealed that the refinery, which gulped $897.6 million in maintenance costs, failed to produce Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) and was shut down barely a month after former NNPCL boss, Kyari, declared it operational.<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Publisher Kindly share: The new management and board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, led by its Group&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":5906,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4,2],"tags":[1365],"class_list":["post-5905","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-business-economy","category-news","tag-nigerian-national-petroleum-company-limited"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v22.8 -
