{"id":590,"date":"2024-07-04T10:14:32","date_gmt":"2024-07-04T10:14:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/panoramanews.com.ng\/?p=590"},"modified":"2024-07-04T10:14:32","modified_gmt":"2024-07-04T10:14:32","slug":"bandits-demand-n300m-to-free-kaduna-judge-kill-eldest-son","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/panoramanews.com.ng\/index.php\/2024\/07\/04\/bandits-demand-n300m-to-free-kaduna-judge-kill-eldest-son\/","title":{"rendered":"Bandits demand N300m to free Kaduna judge, kill eldest son"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-591\" src=\"https:\/\/panoramanews.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Kaduna-600x323-1-300x162.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"162\" srcset=\"https:\/\/panoramanews.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Kaduna-600x323-1-300x162.jpg 300w, https:\/\/panoramanews.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Kaduna-600x323-1.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 16px;\">Bandits have killed the eldest son of a judge of the Kaduna State Customary Court, identified as Janet Galadima, while demanding N300m ransom to free the judge and her three other children still being held.<\/span><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Chief Executive Officer of the House of Justice, Gloria\u00a0 Ballason, in a statement on Wednesday, said the judge and her four children were kidnapped by the bandits on Sunday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to Ballason, the bandits invaded the judge\u2019s home on the night of Sunday while her medical doctor husband was away on duty.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ballason said, \u201cThe abductors, reported to have been about 15, took their captives hostage and demanded a huge sum as ransom.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cOn Tuesday, July 2, 2024, the terrorists shot dead the 14-year-old first son of the judge when the ransom demanded could not be obtained.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ballason, a human rights lawyer, condemned the attack on the judge and her family, saying it ran contrary to\u00a0 Article 7 of the United Nations Basic Principles on the Independence of the Judiciary and\u00a0 Section 33 and 14 (2)b of the 1999 Constitution that guarantees the safety of judges.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ballason described the murder of Victor, the 14-year-old son of the judge as \u201cgrisly and blood curdling,\u201d stating that no parent deserved the horror of watching their child being killed in such a cold, callous manner.
