Nine people have been pulled out from the rubble of the collapsed three-storey building, which came down Saturday morning.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred at Ojodu-Berger area of Lagos State.<\/p>\n

The collapsed building was reportedly partially occupied. There were no occupants on the three floors, while the ground floor housed an eatery called Equal Right Restaurant.<\/p>\n

According to the Vanguard, men of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, as well as Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, were on ground trying to rescue victims.<\/p>\n

The survivors have been rushed to a hospital for immediate treatment.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the cause of the collapse was yet to be ascertained at press time.<\/p>\n

Director, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, confirmed the number of the rescued victims. She said there could be other trapped victims as rescue operation continues.

\nAccording to Adeseye, through the service spokesman, Skahiru, Amodu: \u201cWe have a three-storey building which collapsed this morning. Fortunately, we have been able to rescue nine alive, with no record of death.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe rescued victims suffered varying degrees of injuries. They were first attended to by Lagos State Ambulance Services, LASAMBUS, before they were taken to the hospital for further treatment.<\/p>\n

\u201cLike I earlier said, the building is three-storey. The ground floor was occupied, being used for eatery, bar and parking lot.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe other three upper floors were not occupied. It is an old building, and was not under construction.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have always stressed that it\u2019s not healthy and safe for building not to be occupied for a long period because over time it loses its integrity and strength to stand the test of time.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\u201cUnoccupied buildings are often prone to collapse any moment.<\/p>\n

\u201cInvestigation of the cause of the collapse, as well as rescue operations, are ongoing because we have to get to the ground zero to be sure that no one is trapped in the rubbles.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverything is under control as we speak. No cause for any alarm.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to an eyewitness, Femi Saheed, the incident happened at about 11a.m., today.<\/p>\n
