{"id":5562,"date":"2025-04-10T06:33:23","date_gmt":"2025-04-10T06:33:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/panoramanews.com.ng\/?p=5562"},"modified":"2025-04-10T06:33:23","modified_gmt":"2025-04-10T06:33:23","slug":"hoodlum-seen-assaulting-woman-in-viral-video-detained","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/panoramanews.com.ng\/index.php\/2025\/04\/10\/hoodlum-seen-assaulting-woman-in-viral-video-detained\/","title":{"rendered":"Hoodlum seen assaulting woman in viral video detained"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-5563\" src=\"https:\/\/panoramanews.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/download-300x159.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"159\" srcset=\"https:\/\/panoramanews.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/download-300x159.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/panoramanews.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/download.jpeg 332w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\">By Amah<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Kindly share:<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Police operatives in Lagos have arrested a man who was seen in a viral video assaulting a woman in the Lekki area.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Lagos Police command\u2019s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed in a statement on Wednesday that the suspected hoodlum was arrested shortly after the incident and detained at the Maroko Division.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cThe Lagos State Police Command is aware of a viral video circulating on social media, depicting the assault of one Yetunde Amole by a suspected thug at the Oriental Hotel area in Lagos.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cThe command condemns this act in the strongest terms and wishes to update the public on the actions already taken.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cThe incident occurred on Monday at about 2:00 pm, when the suspect was caught attempting to steal Amole\u2019s car battery.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cAmole courageously intervened to prevent the theft, resulting in the suspect assaulting her,\u201d Hundeyin said.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The image maker said that following a prompt response by officers of Maroko Division, the suspect was apprehended shortly after the incident and detained at the division.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cPreparations for his arraignment were underway when he suddenly took ill.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cHe was immediately transferred to Falomo Police Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment under close supervision, \u201d he said.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The spokesperson assured the public that justice would be served.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cThe suspect will be charged to a court of competent jurisdiction as soon as police medical professionals declare him fit to stand trial, \u201d he said.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He restated the command\u2019s commitment to ensuring the safety and protection of all residents.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Hundeyin urged the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement authorities.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The spokesperson commended Amole for her bravery and assured her and all victims of crime that their cases would be thoroughly pursued to ensure justice is served in all cases.
