Akpabio and Akpoti-Uduaghan<\/p>\n

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central in the National Assembly, has bombed the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, claiming that she ran into trouble in the Senate after rejecting Akpabio\u2019s alleged sexual advances.Speaking on Friday on Arise TV, Akpoti-Uduaghan likened her situation to a student, who is passing through a raw deal in the hands of a lecturer for turning down inappropriate demands.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy case is a case of a student being punished by a lecturer for refusing to sleep with him,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Responding to a question, Akpoti-Uduaghan said: \u201cIt all started on the 18th of December 2023, which was a day before his birthday and my birthday, we are birthday mates. We were all in Akwa Ibom because he had a big fanfare in the stadium.<\/p>\n

\u201cMyself, my husband and a few of his close friends, we went to Akwa Ibom and at first we were at Ikot Ekpene, where his house is then we all moved to his house in Uyo. It was about 8pm and he held my hand and said he wanted to show me around his house.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy husband was walking behind us. Just three of us. We were walking around from room to room. He showed me the beautiful interior.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe noticed that he has to be spaced while still holding my hand. My husband was behind still on his phone but he was watching up whenever he could and then he got to this particular sitting room and he said, do you like my house?<\/p>\n

\u201cI said, of course, sir. Every room, beautiful, nice interior, quality taste. He said, now that you\u2019re a senator, I\u2019m going to create time for us to come spend quality moments here. You will enjoy it.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt that point, I just pulled away and I was like, \u2018I don\u2019t really understand what exactly that meant.\u2019 But then my husband when I turned around was already near me, and the way my husband looked at me and looked at him, I was beginning to wonder, did he hear part of that inciting statements or not?<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd then the Senate President too, I saw that he also had that thought like, did my husband hear the invitation to treat or not?<\/p>\n

\u201cSo then the Senate President now said, oh, by the way, let me show you my chapel. He has a chapel in his house as well.

\n\u201cSo to the chapel. I know we walked in silence and all. So that evening before we left the Senate President\u2019s house at about 11 midnight to the Four Point Hotel, my husband asked me, Natasha, what did the Senate President tell you. What was he telling you?<\/p>\n

\n\u201cI thought, should I tell him that he was speaking about bringing me in here at a special time for us to have a good time? Or should I just kill it there?<\/p>\n

\u201cI just gave him some words to mask what was said. After when we laid in bed to my right and my husband wrapped his hands around me and he said, my love you know you can tell me anything.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat did the Senate President tell you? Again I was like don\u2019t you believe me?<\/p>\n

\u201cI said nothing, nothing. Moreover it\u2019s my birthday in a few minutes, let\u2019s just be happy.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n

On another instance,\u00a0Senator Natasha said that due to the rejection of Apkabio\u2019s sexual advances, she was subjected to persistent harassment in the Senate.According to Natasha, the Senate President had consistently blocked her motions from being heard on the floor each time it was raised, and some colleagues advised her to see Akpabio privately in his office, adding that when she eventually did, Akpabio allegedly said she would enjoy “if she took care of him”.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

As regards the controversy surrounding the seating arrangement in the chamber, the senator admitted that Order 10 of the Senate Rules states that senators must speak from their assigned seats, adding, however, that the lawmakers are permitted to speak from anywhere in the chamber\u00a0when it comes to matters of privilege.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Akpoti-Uduaghan also said other female senators may have their reasons for not supporting her publicly although she disclosed that Senator Ireti Kingibe, who represents the Federal Capital Territory, had called her, not to offer support, but to criticise her for filing a defamation lawsuit against Akpabio.Reacting to Senate President\u00a0previous nightclub comments, in which he had referred to the Senate as a nightclub, Akpoti-Uduaghan\u00a0said it was not a slip of the tongue, claiming that Akpabio\u2019s\u00a0had once personally suggested organising a private party in a nightclub setting for them to \u201chave fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the allegations of corruption against her raised in a petition by a northern youth group, and submitted to the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, Public Petitions, and Code of Conduct, the Senator claimed that the petition was a diversionary orchestration by individuals who wanted her to divert committee funds for their benefit.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
