\nResidents of the Sedu 2 community in the Ogijo area of Ogun State are calling for an increased security presence, particularly from the Ogun State Police Command, following the discovery of a dismembered body of an unidentified woman on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The command\u2019s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the discovery of the dismembered corpse on Sunday and stated that an investigation was underway to track down those responsible for the gruesome act, suspected to be a ritual killing.<\/p>\n

This incident comes just days after an Islamic cleric in Kwara State, Muhammed Bello, allegedly murdered his girlfriend, Hafsoh Lawal, and dismembered her corpse, whom he had met on Facebook.<\/p>\n

PUNCH Metro gathered on Sunday that the headless body, with both hands severed and wrapped in a sack, was found in a fenced farmland within the community.<\/p>\n

The unsettling discovery was reported at the Ogijo Police Station on Sunday, at about 3:10 p.m. by some of the residents who spoke with PUNCH Metro.<\/p>\n

Stating that preliminary investigations suggested the body was dumped at the location, Odutola disclosed that the crime scene was cordoned off and the remains of the deceased had been deposited at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital in Sagamu for preservation and forensic examination.<\/p>\n

Odutola also noted that the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, had ordered a thorough investigation into the case to apprehend those behind the crime.<\/p>\n

She emphasised that the CP urged parents and guardians to engage their children in security discussions at home, highlighting the importance of vigilance and community cooperation in crime prevention.<\/p>\n

Speaking with PUNCH Metro, a resident who requested anonymity due to fear of reprisal, called on the police to conduct regular patrols to prevent such occurrences in the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cA member of the community saw a wrapped bag with blood dripping from it. When someone tried to check what was inside, a severed human hand fell out,\u201d the resident recounted.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey dismembered her body and brought it to our community. We need protection. We don\u2019t want things like this to happen again.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another resident, who identified herself as Ronke, expressed shock at how the body was dumped without anyone noticing.<\/p>\n
